The concept of Biosphere Ambassadors was first established in 2007 with the aim to communicate the role of different stakeholders within a biosphere reserve. Johanna initiated the concept of Biosphere Ambassadors and has long been looking forward to this new beginning. It is important that the Ambassadors convey their thoughts on the various activities in the proposed Biosphere Reserve. We may of course also help to highlight important issues from the Ambassadors. Surely you can call the Ambassadors' role as extended links into the community. We can proudly say that this concept has attracted international attention as an excellent "tool" for biosphere operation. Some biosphere reserves around the world are now following our example.
We have had the first meeting of the Biosphere Ambassadors in the new Biosphere office. The newly employed staff of the Biosphere office finally got to meet most of the Ambassadors. The meeting was filled with thoughts of how to develop the ambassador role and how we educate and learn from each other. This is a process that lifts us all. Full of inspiration, we decided to arrange a series of seminars and a field trip in the area.
