Biosphere Investment and Food Security: We have the great pleasure to invite you to visit Lake Vänern Archipelago Biosphere Reserve.  During May 11th-12th, you will experience grand diversity, locally produced food and natural beauty while focusing on a dialogue with local communities and stakeholders about Biosphere Investment and Food Security.

During this seminar you will get an insight in the development of an innovation system designed to strengthen conditions for future generations while simultaneously generating economic effects. You will also be part of discussions about planetary boundaries and value of social ecological systems for change!

Lake Vänern Archipelago BR includes parts of the largest inland sea in the EU, including one of the largest fishing fleets. The lake is also the greatest freshwater reserve in Europe. Hence, many aspects of sustainability and stakeholder collaboration are key values along with security in terms of clean water and food quality. Both are historically big issues, which have been solved by collaboration with decision makers, industries and civic society.

Biosphere Innovation System (BIS) is designed with scalable dimension and for world impact, includes a number of key supporting structures; financial system, scientific competence, concrete functions and tools, and an ecosystem venture incubator (HUB Big Lake). All combined will enhance the resilience of and the capacity of ecosystems to generate services. These core ideas will lead to capacity building within the Biosphere Reserve and are globally applicable.
