The Biosphere ambassador and guide training courses are launched!

The interest was much greater than we initially expected. This makes us very happy! Over 40 people attended the first meeting, held at Biosphere office on February 8. The courses will continue during the spring and will train new biosphere ambassadors and specialized guides.

Maria Thorell is working at the Biosphere office until the end of September. She is the conference producer of EuroMAB 2011.

EuroMAB 2011 will this year be held in Sweden, in our Biosphere Reserve! July 4^th to July 8^th are the dates of the event.

EuroMAB is an international conference for biosphere reserves in Europe, Russia, and North America. Swedish Program Committee for MAB decided to locate EuroMAB 2011 to Biosphere Reserve Lake Vänern Archipelago and Mount Kinnekulle with the following motivation:

Lake Vänern Archipelago and Mount Kinnekulle  is a new Biosphere Reserve, which was very well received in Paris. It is mentioned as an example of a new generation of biosphere reserves. The Committee believes that Biosphere Reserve Lake Vänern Archipelago and Mount Kinnekulle is an area with a completely new direction, thus showing also the width of the Swedish effort. By making this decision, the Committee also helps give the newly formed biosphere reserve the attention well needed in this early stage of its development.

Around 130-140 people usually attend these gatherings. There will be people from biosphere reserves, MAB National Committees, UNESCO delegations and from UNESCO Headquarters.

We all think it will be fantastic and this is a nice opportunity to show Sweden's second Biosphere Reserve.
